My Fave Monday...Twinchies???

Image
In an eager attempt to jump start my recent lag in the creativity department, I joined a group of amazingly talented women on Facebook, in a Twinchie Swap.  I know you may be asking, "What's a Twinchie?" At first glance, the word reads a bit inappropriate in my mind, akin to something that might get your hand slapped if you tried it more than once.  A Twinchie is a two inch by two inch piece of art.  Simple as that.  Some like to collect them or trade like an Artist Trading Card (ATC).  I've heard they're a popular alternative to the ATC due the smaller size and the time invested to make them.  Time is relative when it come to art, and after my little stint at making these so called "Twinchies", I'd have to disagree on the whole popular concept and more than less embrace a miniature pain in the a$$ stance!  Of course, I mean no disrespect to those who love to make these inappropriately named pieces of a$$...err..I mean art.  And I get that I ...

My Fave Monday...Porch Swings

Image
I'm still on vacation time.  It hasn't even been a week since I've been back from the East Coast.  I had a brief opportunity to visit one of my best friends in Virginia.  I jumped at the chance, put my big girl panties on, and flew all by myself across the country!  It was a first for me, of a lot of things.  First time flying solo for such a long distance, first time in Virginia, first time in Washington D.C., first time alone without my girls for that long.  Then there was the porch swing...I didn't want to leave the damn porch swing!     (me not getting off the swing and a nice reflection of me taking this picture shown in my sunglasses...) I loved it there so much I had a moment where I thought I could just send for my girls and we could live in the green beauty of a state called Virginia.  I don't think my husband would have liked that so much though.  I eventually got my butt on the plane home but to tell you the truth,...

My Fave Monday...Upcycle!

Image
I was recently asked to join a design team.  What an amazing opportunity for me, and of course, I said yes at the drop of a hat!  How exciting for me, that someone offered the chance to showcase my talent along side some amazing other talents in the crafting community.  I was beyond excited to jump right in, with two feet, on this new adventure.  Then...I went out of town for a week...then I got sick for a week...then I went out of town again...and then before I knew it, I had an obligation.  I had to produce.  I had to participate.  I had a project due!  And I'm going out of town again in two weeks!  School started.  I have a family.  Holy crap, is this a job?  I don't know, but all of a sudden, I didn't feel good about my decision.  So, I backed out of my commitment and now I'm not feeling good about THAT decision.  Geez, if only I could say yes to everything, then I'd be all fine with it but realistically, I c...

My Fave Monday...Clay Molds

Image
I was at JoAnn's the other day, not because I needed fabric.  I can't sew worth a !#%&!  I admire anyone that has the patience and skills to sew because I'm just not cut out for that crap.   You know, they have more than just fabric there, right?  Or am I the only one who didn't realize that fact?  I totally had no idea JoAnn's had so many crafting supplies!  I was honestly, just looking for a new glue gun.  I've been using the same glue gun that I purchased years ago to put together a flower arrangement for my wedding.  Last month was my fifteenth wedding anniversary.  The math is kinda spelled out for you on that one, so, if you didn't get it, I don't think I can help you, with pretty much anything else here on out. As I perused the isles with new glue gun in hand, I walked leisurely to the register to pay for my purchase and along the way, saw a display for the Martha Stewart clay molds that caught my eye. I had seen so ...

My Fave Monday...Back to School

Image
Where I live, the elementary schools are year round.  I secretly wish all the schools were year round instead of just the little kids.  I have one of each kind of kid, little and not so little.  I say secretly because I'd never tell my older daughter I'd prefer she weren't home for nearly three consecutive months out of the year verses one month out of every three.  She might think I don't like her, and that's not the case at all.  It's more the moments with her sister I dislike.  I don't remember every being so antagonistic as a child, but I'm certain my siblings would disagree.  Besides, my daughter had to get if from someone. Today marked a milestone in my house.  My youngest started the fifth grade!  Time flies when you are having fun or rather, just growing up in the midst of your parent's disbelief.  I honored the day by taking a quick photo and creating this layout to share with all of you.  You, not being my first thought...

My Fave Monday...Faber-Castell Artist Pens

Image
Well, honestly, they're more markers than they are pens but if they want to call themselves pens I'm not going to argue.  They are my new toy, so to speak, besides the card kits, these past few weeks.  You remember what it's like getting a new toy as a kid?  You play with it constantly for the time being then eventually put it away, inside a box or drawer, only to discover it later and have it be new all over again.  I'm already seeing the scenario start as often as I've used these pens lately, especially when it comes to my mixed media artwork. The colors are vibrant.  I wish I had all of them but this is it so far, especially at $5.25 a pop!  I'm not so much the coloring queen.  I say that because they're out there.  You know them!  All those pretty cards posted with the cute little Greeting Farm stamps and the Copic coloring aren't done by your average artist.  There's some serious hierarchy going on in the coloring world and t...
