Sunday Stamping #14 To Watercolor or Not to Watercolor

Image
That is the question...I decided, after a futile attempt to watercolor this card that it just wasn't worth it. So, the answer is not to watercolor. Copic Markers to the rescue! Before we get into my card, I want to give a big THANK YOU to Patricia Allison. She is the winner of the triangle turnabout stamp! Patricia is also a follower of my Facebook page and always has the kindest words to say about my work. I appreciate her so much, especially since she was the only one who took the time to comment on my post. I am so happy to send her some crafty goodies in the mail! One of the great things about social media is that it allows me to share my passion for card making  along with meeting people who share in my passion. The unfortunate part of social media is that it is selective on the audience my work reaches on the interwebz . Honestly, it's frustrating to say the least. I have several followers to my Instagram and Facebook page but because I don't pay for advert...

New Stamp Set Sneak Peak

Image
I love being able to play with new stamp sets from Stampin' Up! before they're available to my customers. It allows me the opportunity to give honest recommendations of product that I think worthy of purchase from me. Lets face it, this hobby is not cheap! You have to get the best bang for your buck and if that means forgoing some product for others, I'm all for that! The hard part though is   so much of Stampin' Up!'s product is worth every penny. Today I made a super simple, anyone can make this, card.  I used a stamp set called, Crafting Forever, from our new annual catalog and Stampin' Up! watercolor pencils. Don't you just love a freshly sharpened pencil? Maybe that's just me. It's the small things in life that make me happy. Here is my simple card. I stamped the image on watercolor paper with Stampin' Up!'s black archival ink, colored in the image with the watercolor pencils then used my aqua painter to spread the color. I ...

Sunday Stamping #6 Great Googly Eyes!

Image
I'm channeling my best Maggie and the Ferocious Beast   here but yeah, the Studio Katia  google eyes are a great new addition to my crafty stash.  I highly recommend adding them to yours. I happened upon them by mistake. I meant to order a larger size but apparently I mistook these tiny little dots of wonder for the more sensible, wobbly dots of ordinary size. Why is it the tinier something is the cuter it looks? As a child I had a fascination with my Grandma's white china, pink flowered tea set. That is, until she bought me a set of my own and instead of going on a total tangent here, I'll keep it short and sweet. I still have the set. Check out how tiny these eyes are! Great Googly Moogly, they're so stinking cute! I used distress inks to color all the back ground images on this card. I white embossed and colored the Sow Much Cuteness stamp set by My Favorite things with my Zig clean color real brush markers . It's hard to see the eyes on the e...

Sunday Stamping #5 Supplies

Image
As I was rearranging my craft room today , I was reminded of this video from a few years ago; It's funny because it's true! I had to make room for my new craft mat, rulers and have a space for the awesome birthday gift I received from my wonderful mother in law... last year. She gifted me an amazing, computerized, embroidering sewing machine! I never made room for it until I actually needed to use it, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a sewing machine. I mean, you shouldn't need to use it in order to make space for it, especially if you have the space to afford...or do I?  I do. It's not so much that I didn't want to use the sewing machine, I adored it for what it is capable of doing and the fact that it's such a thoughtful gift, but  I've forever convinced myself I'm no good at sewing. I believed I had no patience for the craft and after seeing the beautiful things my mother in law could make with her sewing machine, well, ...

Sunday Stamping #3 Birthday Edition!

Image
This Sunday Stamping post is brought to you by, my birthday! Tomorrow is my official day of celebrating but for today I'd like to share how I've been celebrating the many days leading up to this joyous occasion... My daughter, the photographer is looking over my shoulder as I post this and after seeing this photo, offered up her expert advice, "You know you really should edit that picture. It's not very good." To which I responded, "Yeah, yeah, I know! My phone + the lighting conditions in my craft room can only do so much. This is as good as it gets girl." I like to look at the content more than anything. Can you see the absolute wonderful content included here? We're talking Distress Oxide inks folks! Forget my birthday (not really) that's a celebration in and of itself!  Let us not forget one of my new favorites, Concord & 9th! Their products are so innovative. Really cool stuff! So, in honor of my birthday, not to mention the...
