My Fave Monday...Christmas song

Image
It's not until I actually take a look at my Christmas Card  list, sometime after Thanksgiving, that I realize I didn't make enough cards yet, to fulfil the list.  I always think I'm ahead of the game when it comes to card making.  I do it all year round, so, why wouldn't I be? Most likely it has something to do with my discriminating tastes.  Some of the cards I make just aren't "good enough", I think.  And some people deserve nicer, special cards, that take more time to make, simply because I like them more or I think they're special.  I figure, if I'm making the card, then I can discriminate.  Why not?  Most likely, they're the ones who put more effort into me, so therefore, I put more effort in for them.  We all have people in our lives like that.  Quid pro quo. Not everyone is created equal, despite the popular, false, theory that I have, and I assume, you have, heard.  There are some crappy people in this world.  I like to stay away f

Blockhead Friday

In reference to the maddening event that rears it's ugly head every year the day after Thanksgiving, a friend of mine coined this phrase; "Blockhead Friday" instead of the known "Black Friday".  Completely fitting and so amusing, I laughed every time I read that. Yeah, I read it more than once. I like to laugh. I'm so not one to purposely subject myself to a crowd of strangers, even if it's for a good cause, like saving money.  There is no amount of money that could get me out of my house to go elbow to elbow with people who seem to have disregard for common courtesy or ignorance to the definition of manners.   I like civility and personal space.  I experienced Black Friday once in recent years, just so I would know what I’m talking about when I decided to write about it in the future.  Well , that’s a bit of a stretch… My girls asked Santa for Nintendo Dsi’s that year and they were so good.  Good enough, that I thought the Black Friday

My Fave Monday...Distress Ink technique

Image
I'd like to thank Jennifer McGuire for introducing me to Tim Holtz Distress Inks with her Thinking Inking video tutorials I sat glued to on my computer some year or so ago. Make that two years ago...Holy Crap, was that two years?  Now that I'm looking up the video series, I see it has been two years. Time sure flies when you're having fun! Check them out, if you get a chance, here:  http://youtu.be/XjXNnOTAYFA My fave, this week, is a technique I use and learned from said videos.  If only I could come up with this stuff on my own!  Taking a plain piece of white card stock and transforming it into a beautiful back round paper to use on cards or scrapbook layouts is just fun to me.  And when you can't find patterned paper in your stash to match a project or if you just want more of a water color look, then using Distress Inks is perfect for that effect.  The ease of use is pretty much fool proof too.  Especially if you find it hard to color in the lines, like me,

My Fave Monday...Cardstock

I think the best part about being an artist is not so much the art I can create, which is, believe me, a wonderful outlet for my creativity and all around fun, but the "stuff" I can use to create it with! Art is a limitless process and although I indulge in paper crafting more than anything else, I still call it art.  I don't know what it is about the word "craft" but all it does for me is conjure up the thought of mommies chatting about how much they love chocolate and time away from their kids or old ladies and their canvas tote bags.  I'd like to say that I'm neither of the two.  And why is it old ladies always seem to carry a tote bag? Being an avid blog reader, I've noticed several blogs that have a week day theme.  Whether it's "Technique Tuesday" or "Make a Card Monday" what have you, they're popular and I'm about to jump on that bandwagon.  If anything, it'll give me a reason to keep up on my art posts
